This site provides provides analysis and help with the following basketball-related fantasy games: Tournament Challenge, Women's Tournament Challenge, and College Hoops Pick'em. In subsequent years, Fantasy Basketball will also be covered.
Tournament Challenge
Tournament challenge is all about THE MADNESS! There is a certain craziness that comes over men and women everywhere during the last two weeks of March and first weekend of April. It is caused by the craziness, the upsets, the buzzer-beaters, the agony, the joy, the highs and lows, the utter chaos that is March Madness. 68 men's college basketball teams, all competing for a shot at the ultimate prize: The National Championship.
Every year, millions nationwide (maybe even perhaps worldwide) agonize and stress, worry and sweat about the ultimate task of filling out their all-important bracket. Some take minutes, others hours, some even days to accomplish this feat. After all, you don't want your bracket busted after the first weekend!!
People have all kinds of ways of making their picks. Some base theirs on the team mascots. Others rank the teams based on the color of their uniforms. Some even pick based on which name sounds the 'coolest'. Personally, I just go with my knowledge of college basketball, and my gut instincts/personal feelings. I probably spend at least 2 - 4 hours doing my initial fill-in. I usually do this the first chance I get on Monday after the bracket is released. Then I'll look it over at least once a day until the tournament starts, making sure I'm feeling good about each pick. It's worked out pretty well, since I've been in the 90th+ percentile every year. You have to do whatever works for you!
Women's Tournament Challenge
Women's Tournament Challenge is basically the same as Tournament Challenge, but for the women's college teams. The dates of the games are a little different, but the format of the game is the same. This game can be more challenging than Tournament Challenge because the women's teams are much less well-known, but it can still be fun. Another drawback is that the games are not all televised, but they can all be watched online.
College Hoops Pick'em
Do you crave picking upsets? Do you live for the Cinderella story? If so, this game is for you! The game is based on the men's national college basketball tournament, except that instead of filling out a bracket, you pick who you think will win for each round. Points are earned based on the seed of the team, with more points for the lower seeded teams. So if you pick the right Cinderella team and/or upsets, the payoff can be great. The game is played by rounds, so you only pick one round of the tournament at a time. Many people like this because even if their bracket is busted, they can still have a chance at winning this game. This site will feature picks and analysis for each of the picks for each round.
The purpose of this page is not to persuade you to pick a certain way, but to share with you my knowledge and feelings of the teams involved, and by so doing hopefully help you to create your best game entries possible. Good luck!
